Alpha News obtained a letter from the Minnesota Peace and Police Officers Association (MPPOA) that urges Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to remove Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty from all “past, present, and future use of force cases involving police officers.”

The letter, written by Imran Ali, MPPOA’s general counsel, says that Moriarty is unable to be impartial in those cases.

“County Attorney Moriarty’s ongoing public comments about police officers demonstrate a clear bias against law enforcement and a lack of impartiality in her decision-making processes,” the letter says.

Moriarty recently dropped charges against Minnesota State Trooper Ryan Londregan, saying she could not have proved beyond a reasonable doubt that a crime had been committed in the death of Ricky Cobb II.
