Washington, D.C. – Sen. Al Franken (D – MN) told CNN’s State of the Union Sunday that a few GOP senators have expressed concern about President Donald Trump’s mental health.
Franken was on Real Time with Bill Maher Friday where he claimed Republican senators have privately expressed concern over the mental health of Trump. Franken claimed GOP members have told him they think Trump is “not right mentally” or even harsher.
On CNN’s Sunday program, Jake Tapper asked if it was true that Republican colleagues question Trump’s mental stability.
“In the way that we all have this suspicion,” Franken told Tapper, “He lies a lot. He says things that aren’t true. That’s the same as lying, I guess.”
Franken cited Trump’s claims about widespread voter fraud as examples of his truthfulness.
“You know, that is not the norm for a president of the United States, or, actually, for a human being,” Franken said.
