(Des Moines, Iowa)
Republican Presidential Candidate Ted Cruz spent last Friday touring Iowa – making stops at the Iowa State Fair, and hosting a Rally for Religious Freedom. Here’s our full interview with the Texas Senator.
Immediately after our interview Senator Cruz was confronted by actress Ellen Page on gay rights issues, particularly on the lack of legislation to prevent businesses from firing individuals for being gay or trans-gendered. Senator Cruz responded that, “no one has the right to force someone else to abandon their faith and their conscience.”
Later that night at the Rally for Religious Freedom, Senator Cruz shared the stories of individuals who have faced repercussions for applying religious beliefs to their business practices. Minnesota State Representative Cindy Pugh was in attendance.
According to Real Clear Politics, Senator Cruz is currently tied for fifth place with Senator Marco Rubio among Republican Presidential contenders.
