An apparent shootout left 14 wounded and one woman in her 20s dead at a bar in St. Paul early Sunday morning.
Police arrived to the venue, Seventh Street Truck Park, just after midnight responding to multiple 911 calls. St. Paul Police Chief Todd Axtell described the scene as “hellish.” He also indicated that the perpetrators have not yet been arrested. “We won’t stop until we find the people responsible for this madness. We will do our part to hold them accountable,” he said.
The one woman who perished during the incident marks the city’s 32nd homicide of the year.
“Our community is devastated by the shocking scenes from last night. As our Saint Paul officers work to bring those responsible for these senseless acts into custody our work to build more proactive and comprehensive public safety strategies is more urgent than ever,” said St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter.
Ramsey County “Sheriff Bob Fletcher predicted there would be a shooting at Truck Park in St. Paul a night before” it happened, reports former Sen. Scott Jensen — adding that the shooting underscores a need for strong law enforcement.
Sheriff Bob Fletcher predicted there would be a shooting at Truck Park in St Paul a night before it happens… we need to trust our police and give them all the resources to keep our cities safe. Any talk of defunding them is ridiculous! pic.twitter.com/mo9g8EgPlt
