County Commissioner Involved in Fatal Crash on I35

HARRIS, Minn. – Chisago County Commissioner Lora Walker has been identified as the driver responsible for a fatal crash last weekend.

Walker, 47, was driving north in the southbound lanes on Interstate 35 near Harris in Chisago County, reports KSTP. Shortly before 3:30 p.m. Saturday her Chevrolet Equinox collided with a Ford Fusion driving the correct way.

The Ford spun out and came to rest in the median, where it caught fire, reports the Pioneer Press. Gary Anthony Brisky, 62, the man driving the Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was from Gordon, Wisconsin.

Walker’s Chevy came to rest in the right-hand lane. She remained in critical condition at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. She has been a Chisago County Commissioner for the last ten years.

The crash shutdown I35 for several hours according to the Pioneer Press. The State Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident. It is unknown at this time whether alcohol or other substances were involved in the crash.
