U.S. Senate candidate Jason Lewis chimed in after the Senate voted to acquit President Donald Trump, with Minnesota Senator Tina Smith voting to remove him from office.
“Today, the Senate did the right thing and voted to acquit President Donald Trump,” says Lewis. He goes on, stating “Senator Tina Smith has proven once and for all that she is all-in with the unhinged radicals that have taken over the Democratic Party.”
Jason Lewis asserts that impeachment has been nothing but a partisan smear from the very beginning, aimed at undoing the 2016 election and the will of the people.
The impeachment process has been going on for several weeks, with Lewis lamenting that “this hoax is them [the Democrats] preferring to play politics rather than do their jobs. Today the nonsense finally came to an end, and we can move forward with the nation’s business.”
Minnesota senator Tina Smith also responded to the vote with several tweets. She said, “the process may have let people down, but communities must hold onto values that help them find common ground.”
Lewis concludes his remarks with “Tina Smith’s vote is an embarrassment to the sensible Minnesotans she purports to represent. Minnesotans deserve better, and she will face judgement day at the ballot box this November 3rd. It’s time we send someone to the U.S. Senate who puts the interests of Minnesotans and the nation first, not Tina Smith who serves her own partisan political interests above all else.”
