Local Media Attack FOX 9 News For Reporting Somali Daycare Fraud

Instead of digging down and expanding the story, local media acted as the press agents for CAIR.

This week a FOX 9 news report about massive Somali daycare fraud, and the possibility of the stolen money making its way to terrorists group, made national and international headlines. There was so much coverage that I’m not going to insult Alpha News readers by summarizing it.

What I do want to bring to their attention is the reaction by some other local news outlets in response to that blockbuster of a story: they went immediately not to deepen and expand the coverage but to attack the story, to try to delegitimize it.

First CAIR’s handmaidens at MPR went on the attack. “FOX 9 reporting on day care fraud called into question” was the misleading, agitprop headline. The only “question” about the story was a quote from Rep. Keith Ellison and Rep. Ilhan Omar, along with Governor Dayton bleating that his administration had been working hard on it. Right.

Next came the increasingly Islamified Pioneer Press ran with the never seen before headline: “Minnesota day-care fraud cash going to terrorists? Let’s unpack this.” This is from an alleged “straight news” reporter but reads more like an opinion piece. Again, have you ever seen local news media attack or attempt to reframe the narrative of an investigatory piece?

It’s not that this can’t be done; it’s that this is the first time I’ve seen it and the choice of the topic is revealing. The truth about failed Somali immigration in America, and indeed throughout the world, is unpleasant and unfortunate. But it remains the truth. Most of your media is hellbent from covering that story, quick to give voice to others who’ll call you a bigot simply for stating facts. We’re made of sterner stuff here at Alpha News and in my upcoming Sunday column, I’ll have more.
