Alpha News is looking to hire a full-time managing editor to join its team in Plymouth, Minnesota. Remote applications will not be accepted for this position.
This is a fast-paced position. On a given work day, the ideal candidate will be willing to drop what they’re doing to help the team and quickly solve problems.
Requirements:
- Minimum two years of journalism experience or experience in a related field
- Peerless editing skills
- Strong command of grammar
- Extreme attention to detail
- Familiarity with AP Style
- Good working knowledge of current events in Minnesota
- Open to working some nights
- Open to trying new things
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Responsibilities:
- Write 2-3 original stories per day
- Edit stories when available
- Help manage social media channels and create engaging social media content
- Help publish stories on nights and weekends
- Send fundraising letters and daily newsletters
