MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Rich Draheim (R) has defeated Sen. Kevin Dahle (D) 52%-48%. Senate District 20, includes the Le Sueur and parts of Rice and Scott counties, and small colleges like St. Olaf and Carleton. As Alpha News reported, this mix of old and new has created the ultimate swing district.
Sen. Dahle was first elected in 2012, has served on the Commerce, Education, and State and Local Government committees as of 2015.
While Mitt Romney won the district by just three points, the district elected one democrat and one republican to the Minnesota House of Representative.
Rich Draheim has touted efficient government, job creation and growth, tax reform, and agriculture as the focal points of his campaign.
Draheim is a small business owner in Southern Minnesota.
