Former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president of the United States, has challenged Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, to three debates in September.
Speaking at a press conference from his Mar-A-Lago estate, President Trump said his campaign had spoken with the heads of Fox News, NBC, and ABC and agreed to dates for three debates in September.
According to the 45th president, his campaign and the networks have agreed to the dates, but the Harris campaign had yet to agree to the final terms of all the debates. While the dates appear to be set, other specifics, such as where the debates will be hosted and whether an audience will be present, still need to be worked out.
Should all parties agree to final terms, the Fox News debate would be on Sept. 4, the ABC debate would be Sept. 10, and the NBC debate would occur on Sept. 25.
ABC News confirmed that both Trump and Harris have agreed to the Sept. 10 debate.
President Trump also said that CBS would host the vice presidential debate between his running mate, U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Harris’ running mate. The former president did not mention specifically when the vice presidential debate would occur.
After announcing the dates of the debates, President Trump took questions from reporters on a variety of subjects relating to the 2024 presidential campaign.
