Bloomington police say a 74-year-old man was killed and a 72-year-old woman was injured during a stabbing inside their home early Thursday morning.

Police said they responded to a home on the 1000 block of 105th Street around 4:40 a.m. when a 911 caller asked for help because there was “someone inside their house.”

Officers arrived to find two victims inside the home suffering from apparent stab wounds and blunt force injuries. The victims were both transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center, where the male victim was pronounced deceased.

When officers arrived at the scene, they also observed a man running from the house. The 44-year-old suspect, Adam Garrett Roring, was taken into custody and is being held at the Bloomington Police Department on a charge of murder.

Police said they don’t believe this was a “random incident” but didn’t elaborate.

“This is a horrific and tragic event, and we ask for thoughts and prayers for the victims and their family,” said Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges. “I am grateful for the excellent work of our dispatchers and police officers which led to the immediate apprehension of the suspect.”

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the identity of the deceased victim in the coming days.
