“These are the times that try men’s souls.” Thomas Paine
And so they are.
Throughout history, there have been pivotal moments that changed the course of mankind. Over the last century, we have witnessed our Republic denigrated, our values besmirched, and the concept of self-governance circumvented. Where has this gotten us today? The Governor of Minnesota never refers to us as anything but a democracy. Yet we were founded as a Republic. Self-governance has been replaced by dictatorial fiat. The values of self-determination and responsibility for one’s own actions can now get you arrested.
If we were a democracy, the notion of property rights would be up to whim. The governing elites would decide how much of your labor was yours (income tax), how much homage you need to render to keep your land (property tax), and whether that dream of yours is of value to the King (business license). In a Republic, the individual is sovereign. The State may only take for the things expressly delegated by a governing set of rules (Constitution).
Ever since our founding, those who have wanted to expand the State have used the courts against us. Trusting a simple majority of politically appointed lawyers to guard the Republic and strict adherence to the Constitution is laughable.
The concept of state nullification, not used since the 1850s, needs to be brought to the forefront. Why do we not use this option? Federal income tax doled back out to the states with strings attached. We are bribed into submission! The central government extorts our labor, and we are forced to grovel, begging hand extended, to ask for some portion to be returned.
Those who say the Constitution is a living breathing document misrepresent the ability to amend the document with what we do today. It is true — it can be amended — not via judicial ruling, or any law passed by a subversive Legislature or Congress, or any executive order issued by a tinhorn Governor. The Constitution was put in place to prevent exactly what is going on now!
“These are the times that try men’s souls.” Are you going to let propaganda fed to you by the Lame Stream Media and self-serving politicians sucker you into surrendering your rights, as a free people, without a fight?
We have surrendered too much for too long.
We are at another of those crossroads in history. Restore the Republic or become another failed socialist state. Do not let the founding principles die without so much as a whimper.
What can I do, you ask? Stop hiding in the shadows! Find a way to resist. It may be as simple as going for a walk and talking to your neighbor. Don’t shun friends and family. Engage in person-to-person trade. Ask Providence for guidance and protection. Let the Governor know that this is still the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. Executive orders be DAMNED!!
Choose Freedom!
