The Minnesota State Fair has created a drive-thru event as a substitute for the larger event that was canceled due to Covid-19.
The event is a 1-way drive, through 16 vendors, and will allow people to experience at least a part of the event that attracts over 2 million people each year. During the drive, people will have the opportunity to buy food, participate in a trivia contest (with prizes), see Fairborne and Fairchild (the Fair’s mascots), and more.
“Each vehicle ticket is $20 (fees extra, sales tax included), with proceeds supporting Minnesota State Fair operations in a year when the cancellation of the fair leaves us without 95% of our revenue to maintain our facilities and prepare for next year’s fair,” says the Fair’s site.

Vehicles may only have up to 5 people inside (not counting children 4 and under), and in addition to tickets, and will be charged 2 small service fees adding to $5. Tickets will be available July 31st, and the event will take place on, August 20-23, 27-30, and September 3-7.
Many people responded positively to the event on social media, saying they’re excited for cheese curds and buckets of cookies.
