Gas prices in Minnesota have reached a record high for the 10th straight day.
The average Minnesotan is now paying $4.74 per gallon, a new state record.
Since June 1, prices have increased by 41 cents. Minnesota has seen the eighth-largest increase in the nation over the last week, according to AAA.
“This dynamic between decreased supply and increased demand is contributing to rising prices at the pump. This coupled with increasing crude oil prices means that the price of gas will likely remain elevated for the near future,” AAA said in a press release.
Diesel prices are also hitting record highs nearly every day. The current price for a gallon of diesel is $5.43.
“Minnesota runs on trucking, trucking runs on diesel. When diesel goes up, everyone’s affected — from the average consumer to the small fleet to the largest fleet and everyone in between,” John Hausladen, president of the Minnesota Trucking Association, told Alpha News.
Wadena and Watonwan counties have the highest average prices in the state, both at $4.85.
Nationally, the average price for a gallon of gas is a penny away from $5.
