Democrats in Minnesota House District 41A have endorsed a candidate with ties to an organization that has explicitly advocated for defunding the police and establishing “sanctuary” jurisdictions for illegal immigrants.
Lucia Wroblewski, a member of the Afton City Council, received the DFL endorsement for House District 41A last weekend. A former St. Paul police officer, Wroblewski has supported a variety of left-wing causes over the last several years. She was (or possibly still is) a member of a group called Afton Indivisible, an affiliate of the national Indivisible organization.
Indivisible is a left-wing political “movement” and network of local affiliates that was created after Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election. Working to “defeat MAGA” and “save democracy,” the organization has a long history of supporting the so-called “defund the police” movement.
Writing about this topic many times, Indivisible has said “we believe it is critical to defund the police,” “we support defunding the police,” and “we’re working to defund police across the country.”
Furthermore, Indivisible believes in expanding the U.S. Supreme Court, giving statehood to Washington, D.C., and opposing voter ID laws. The organization has also encouraged their partner groups to promote so-called “sanctuary” policies for illegal immigrants. According to The Washington Free Beacon, Indivisible has received more than $4 million from billionaire George Soros and called for an end to deportations of illegal immigrants.
Afton Indivisible’s website currently states that Wroblewski is a member of their organization. As such, Alpha News reached out to Wroblewski to inquire about her association with the organization and her stance on the “defund the police” movement. However, Wroblewski did not respond to these questions before publication.
Opposition to the Enbridge Line 3 oil pipeline was apparently another left-wing cause supported by Wroblewski. According to a blog post from “Healing Minnesota Stories,” Wroblewski joined a 2020 protest that sought to oppose the construction of the long-awaited oil pipeline replacement. The Lucia Wroblewski named in the blog post is described as a “veteran of the St. Paul Police Department.”
In that post, the author references a group of 60 people who went to a construction site to “support Stop Line 3 efforts,” including Wroblewski.
Despite opposition to the project, the Line 3 replacement pipeline was eventually constructed and began operating in 2021. Line 3 transports hundreds of thousands of gallons of oil from Canada, across Minnesota, and into Wisconsin every day. Thus, the pipeline is a major economic boost and helps provide dependable energy to millions of Americans.
Alpha News asked Wroblewski why she opposed the Line 3 pipeline, and whether she is opposed to oil and gas as sources of energy, but did not receive a response.
