Minnesota’s Republican congressional delegation unanimously endorsed GOP state Sen. Eric Pratt in his bid for Congress. Pratt is running in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District which includes much of Minnesota’s south metro area.

“Eric Pratt is a commonsense conservative who will make life more affordable, fight to keep the border secure, rein in government waste, and deliver solutions for Minnesota families,” U.S. House Majority Whip Tom Emmer said in a statement. “I’m proud to endorse Eric Pratt and know he has what it takes to flip this seat and help Republicans grow our majority.”

Emmer, who represents Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District, was joined by Reps. Pete Stauber, Michelle Fischbach, and Brad Finstad in endorsing Pratt. Those members, all of whom are Republicans, issued statements in support of Pratt on Tuesday.

“Senator Pratt has worked tirelessly in the Minnesota Senate to improve his constituents’ lives,” Stauber said. “His unwavering support for law enforcement and policies that keep neighborhoods safe while ensuring fairness in how laws are applied is one of the many reasons I am pleased to endorse Eric Pratt for Congress.”

Over the weekend, Pratt won the Republican endorsement for the Second Congressional District. In turn, GOP candidate Jeremy Westby dropped out of the race, leaving Pratt as the only remaining Republican candidate in the contest.

As such, Pratt will avoid a costly primary campaign in his bid for a congressional seat.

On the DFL side of the race, state Sen. Matt Klein, state Rep. Kaela Berg, and former state Sen. Matt Little are the three leading candidates for their party’s nomination. Democrats in the south metro district will meet this weekend to endorse a candidate.

Minnesota’s Second Congressional District is currently represented by DFL Congresswoman Angie Craig. Last year, Craig announced she is running for the U.S. Senate in 2026.

Pratt has served in the Minnesota Senate since 2013. As of March 31, Pratt has raised $259,000 for his campaign and has roughly $199,000 in cash on hand. After receiving the endorsement of Minnesota’s GOP congressional delegation, Pratt released a statement.

“I’m honored to have the support of leaders who know what it takes to serve effectively at the federal level,” Pratt said. “Minnesota families deserve a representative who will protect their hard-earned money, keep communities safe, and stand up to systems that aren’t working.”
