New Scorecard Website Holds MN Legislators Accountable

WOODBURY, Minn. – Conservative organization Action 4 Liberty recently announced a new website aimed at monitoring the Minnesota legislature on a daily basis.

The website, MNScorecard, is designed to guide legislators and inform voters by proactively evaluating bills as they are introduced in the legislature. The scorecard will feature a watchlist of upcoming bills, giving a brief description and rating of the legislation. Voters can then track the progress of the bill and watch how their legislators vote.

“Our goal is to make this website a pro-active tool to inform legislators of conservative positions before votes are taken and also an accountability tool to inform voters when legislators are voting against your liberties,” Action 4 Liberty President Jake Duesenberg said.

Each bill will be evaluated on whether it expands individual freedom while reducing government control. The website hopes to make Minnesota a “Top 10 State” for individual freedoms by focusing on three policy areas: business freedom, health freedom, and education freedom.

“We’ll use the following criteria to evaluate: does the bill expand individual freedom and reduce government control?” Duesenberg said. “The beauty of mnscorecard.com is that once a vote occurs, we automatically compute a score based on how each legislator votes. It’s time to determine if your legislator truly is a conservative.”

Currently on the website’s watchlist include the House version of the Somali “community development” bill Alpha News reported on last month which receives a negative review from Action 4 Liberty. Two other bills receive a “thumbs down” on the scorecard: the Opiate Stewardship Program in the House and the Patient Consent Modification in the Senate. One bill, the Freedom to Choose Customized Health Insurance, earns a positive review for expanding health care options for Minnesotans.
