During last night’s debate, Amy Klobuchar emphasized her supposed ability to win red districts and said she would actually be able to deliver on her promises—no doubt a shot at Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, who are desperately trying to out-Santa Claus each other.
“You’re going to hear a lot of promises up here, but I’m gonna will tell you this. Yes, I have bold ideas but they are grounded in reality. And, yes, I will make some simple promises,” Klobuchar said.
Klobuchar went on to argue against kicking all Americans off of their private insurance plans, saying that “Medicare for All” would never pass Congress because of this. “Do I think that we are going to end up voting for a plan that kicks half of America off of their current insurance in four years? No, I don’t think we’re going to do that,” she said.
And she argued that free college for all was also a non-starter, because of the cost and the waste that it would cause. “I want to make it easier for kids to go to college,” she said. “My problem with some of these plans is they literally would pay for wealthy kids, for Wall Street kids, to go to college.”
Don’t get the wrong idea. Amy Klobuchar is a leftwing Democrat who supports abortion up to and even after the moment of birth, supports ever-increasing government intervention in healthcare, and is against securing the border.
RNC Spokesperson Preya Samsundar slammed Amy Klobuchar after her debate performance.
“It’s no wonder Amy Klobuchar has steered clear of Minnesota. Tonight, she joined her fellow Democrats in promising to raise your taxes to pay for big government health care and enact open border polices, which turn a blind eye to the flow of drugs and crime coming across our southern border. Minnesotans will reject Klobuchar and her radical policies in favor of President Trump’s roaring economy and America First policies.”
Her healthcare plan, while not Medicare for All, would still lead to increased government cannibalization of private sector healthcare, and more cronyism by the few at the expense of the many. And her college plan would only preserve the screwed-up higher-ed status quo—where students pay ever-increasing prices, and college professors, who usually vote for her, make well over six figures to teach for only several hours a week.
And she used most of her time on the debate stage to bash President Trump, and explain why she mostly agreed with her Democratic opponents.
But for all her efforts, Amy Klobuchar is only at 3 percent in bordering Iowa, and sits at a dismal 1 percent nationwide. In other words, even though Amy Klobuchar is a leftwing Democrat, she’s not crazy enough for the Democrats’ far-left base.
