A home security camera captured a 45-year-old man as he was shot in the head and collapsed to the ground just after midnight Sunday in Minneapolis.

The shooting took place on the 2900 block of 14th Avenue South off of Lake Street at 12:33 a.m. A video of the incident shows a black vehicle drive down an alleyway, fire a single shot at the victim, and then drive away. Several cars were parked along the street and turned their headlights on in unison as the suspect vehicle drove away.

The victim was unresponsive as paramedics transported him to the hospital, Crime Watch Minneapolis reported.

A police spokesperson said officers from the Third Precinct responded to the shooting and found a 45-year-old male in the street with a potentially life-threatening gunshot wound to the head.

Officers provided immediate medical aid until EMS arrived. The Minneapolis Police Forensic Division responded to process the scene and collect evidence. Investigators and officers spoke with individuals in the area at the time of the shooting and surveyed the area for surveillance cameras.

No further details were provided. The incident remains under investigation and no arrests have been made.

The person who shared the video online said they want a “police pole camera on this street.”

“It’s 24/7 drug and gun crime. There are toddlers who live here,” the person said.

Minneapolis has experienced 21 homicides so far this year.
