A friend recently asked me: “Whatever happened to the Bloomington mosque “bombing?” I know a good question when I hear one. The “bombing” has disappeared from the “news” even more completely than the fake Russia narrative.
Dar Al-Farooq, the mosque in question, had a bomb, later described as an IED, explode at five in the morning, mostly damaging the Imam’s office in early August. The timing and the location were both curious but curiosity is the last thing that describes coverage of this incident.
The FBI has steadfastly refused to call the “bombing” a terrorist attack. Real terrorist attacks are quickly discerned and declared. Months later, there is nothing from FBI that would designate the “bombing” as a terrorist attack. In fact, it has offered a $30,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) involved. Twin Cities Muslim “advocacy” groups and mosques separately offered a combined $24,000.
Can you name another attack that needed a reward in order to be declared a terrorist attack?
This didn’t stop the usual members of Minnesota’s Regressive Left from declaring it to be such. Gov. Mark Dayton promptly called it “terrorism” on the basis of no known facts. Rep. Keith Ellison called on President Trump to condemn the attack as terrorism, which to this day, correctly, he has not. Seb Gorka, at the time an administration official, candidly suggested that the explosion could have been a fake hate crime. Local media rarely cover hoaxes, which are legion.
No, the coverage from the beginning to the present has been a mantra of Islamophobia, despite any clear evidence of the explosion being targeted at a mosque per se.
As Andrew Cummins said, often wrongly attributed to Christopher Hitchens: Islamophobia is “a word created by fascists, and used by cowards, to manipulate morons.”
Naturally, the mosque preyed on the kind hearted, the gullible, the credulous and the uninformed–in other words Minnesotans–and were able to fundraise off this explosion to the tune of approximately $115,000. Infidels are suckers.

Waleed Idris al-Maneesey (also spelled Meneese) is the radical lmam who heads up Dar Al-Farooq. That mosque alone has sent five imported Somali men off to fight for ISIS. You didn’t see much local media coverage of this nor of the Imam himself or the mosque’s terrorist aligned history. Nor is there any evidence that al-Maneesey has spoken publicly about the matter.
Al-Maneesey was born in Egypt, taught Islamic studies there and in Saudi Arabia and did a stint as an “Islamic speaker” in the Office of Dawa (or Dawah) in the Saudi Arabian embassy in Washington, D.C. It’s unacceptable that people like him are allowed into this country.
Dawa, according to Ayaan Hirsi Ali, “aims both to convert non-Muslims to political Islam and to instill Islamist views in existing Muslims. The ultimate goal of dawa is to destroy the political institutions of a free society and replace them with the rule of sharia law.”
She further observes: “Dawa is to the Islamists of today what the “long march through the institutions” was to twentieth-century Marxists. It is subversion from within—the abuse of religious freedom in order to undermine that very freedom. Another analogy is also possible. After Islamists gain power, dawa is to them what Gleichschaltung (synchronization) of all aspects of German state, civil, and social institutions was to the National Socialists.”
Her short book “The Challenge of Dawa: Political Islam as Ideology and Movement and How to Counter It” is available for free online.
Al-Maneesey has said that no Muslim in a non-sharia ruled country should be a judge as only Allah can make law. Just last November he preached Muslims had an obligation to kill and destroy the Jews.
Both of those sentiments strike me as decidedly un-Minnesotan but what do I know?
The good Imam (sounds like yet another sitcom Reza Aslan would like to peddle to the networks) also heads up the Islamic University of Minnesota (IUM) which is structured “along the lines of Universities in the Middle East and Africa.” No queer, intersectional or gender fluid studies for you!
You can learn all about an Islamic university in Minnesota you most likely didn’t know existed by visiting its website. The school lists no US accreditation of any type but does note that it is accredited by the Ministry of Education in Somalia.
One instructor at IUM refused to condemn ISIS brutality because news reports were “complicated” and “confusing,” while another offered condolences when Israel killed Hamas founder Sheikh Ahmed Yassin in 2004. When you follow the “un-Minnesotan” road, it seems to lead more often to recently imported people than natives of the state.
Imam al-Maneesey is also a member of the Assembly of Muslim Jurists Association of America (AMJA) where he sits on something called the fatwa committee. The AMJA has issued a declaration telling muslims not to cooperate with law enforcement “in countries which do not rule by Allah’s dictates.” His biography is available online at the organization’s website. While there, be sure to check out “Fatwa Corner.”

This is the man, then, and this is the mosque. Why haven’t you seen any of this material in local media? To ask the question is to answer it.
