A Catholic church in Duluth and a school in Minneapolis were vandalized in separate incidents in late July.
St. Charles Borromeo School told families this week that two individuals broke into the school on the evening of Saturday, July 22, creating “an extensive mess that required 700+ hours of clean-up work and is still ongoing.” The school said its clean-up efforts “after this disaster cost thousands of dollars.”
The St. Anthony Police Department is looking for two individuals (pictured above) who are wanted for questioning.
Meanwhile, just three days later, St. Mary Star of the Sea in Duluth was vandalized around 10 a.m. by a man who broke in and climbed onto the altar.
“Unfortunately, there was some damage done to the high altar and to the free-standing altar, and the statue of Mary in the high altar was destroyed,” the church said in a statement.
“We pray for the man who broke into the church as well as the police officers and firefighters who assisted in resolving the situation,” it added. The church said a suspect is in custody.
According to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, 36 Catholic churches across the country have been the target of vandalism or arson this year. The conference tracked 102 incidents last year, many of them pro-abortion attacks in response to the fall of Roe v. Wade.
