Controversial Iron Range teacher who promotes ‘banned books’ resigns

Concerned parents spoke out in an Alpha News story last week on the teacher's efforts to "get banned and challenged books directly into the hands of students."

At the Monday, Nov. 24 school board meeting, Mountain Iron-Buhl school district (MIB Schools) accepted the resignation of Adam Tritt.

It was item 5.6 on the board’s consent agenda: “Accept Letter of Resignation from Mr. Adam Tritt – English/Language Arts Instructor, effective November 21, 2025”.

After saying he fled Florida as a “political refugee,” Tritt found himself embroiled in a situation in northern Minnesota. Alpha News broke the story on Nov. 18, which featured multiple concerned parents speaking out on Tritt’s efforts to “get banned and challenged books directly into the hands of students.”

One of the concerned parents told Alpha News this week, “A press willing to share this story was key.”

Following the story, multiple parents told us they learned Tritt had been put on administrative leave the week prior.

MIB Schools did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
