Freshman Minnesota Democrat Dean Phillips has previously flirted with the idea of impeaching President Trump. This is an idea that extremely popular with the Democrat base and is being advocated by fellow Minnesota Democrat Ilhan Omar.
The general public, however, is opposed to the idea. A recent poll commissioned by Politico-Morning Consult shows that only 37% of the voters support the idea of impeaching President Trump.
Phillips recent tweet indicates that he will no longer run away from discussing impeachment.

National Republican Campaign Committee indicated that impeachment will be a campaign issue in the suburban Minnesota district. NRCC was quick to issue a statement attacking Dean Phillips saying “Dean Phillips has chosen to side with his rabid, impeachment-obsessed socialist base over the majority of voters in Minnesota’s third district, and it will cost him his seat in 2020.”
