The video, which was provided to Crime Watch Minneapolis, is time stamped just after 2 a.m. on Wednesday morning, and shows two people apparently opening fire on a vehicle in a gas station parking lot on the 1200 block of Washington Avenue South, which borders Interstate 35W in downtown Minneapolis.

Two people can be seen running into camera range, and both appear to fire shots at a vehicle that speeds through the lot. A third person can be seen running from the area across Washington Avenue with one of the shooters chasing after him.

Several vehicles, containing what appear to be innocent bystanders, were at the gas pumps at the time the shots were fired. The people near the vehicles can be seen ducking for cover as the shooting starts. Once the shooting stopped, the occupants got into the vehicles and fled the area.

Corresponding police dispatch audio confirms that police in the area reported hearing multiple shots fired from the area of Bobby & Steve’s Auto World and saw a vehicle fleeing the area as they arrived.

A subsequent dispatch by one of the responding officers described the suspects as Somali males. A later dispatch indicates that a witness told police there were two black males firing the shots. One was described as wearing a camouflage hoodie and the other, described as the main suspect, was in a black hoodie with blue sweatpants. The witness told police that the pair approached on foot but didn’t know if they left on foot or got into a vehicle, according to the audio.

Further audio indicated that a male inside the building told police that he was the intended target of the shots fired.

The dispatch audio did not indicate whether any suspects were identified or located, and a response from the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) was not immediately available. As of publication, the incident does not appear on the MPD’s crime dashboard map.
