Edina police are investigating a series of auto thefts and burglaries that have disrupted the typically quiet Country Club neighborhood, according to a press release from the police department.

Suspects reportedly smashed vehicle windows to steal valuables and garage door openers. They then used the stolen openers and built-in garage door buttons to access garages, enter homes, and make off with car keys, purses, and other items, according to Edina police.

Two suspects apprehended, investigation continues

Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the crimes, but authorities warn there may be more burglars active in the area this season.

Investigators are collaborating with multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, Minneapolis Police Department, Columbia Heights Police Department, and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, to solve the case and prevent further incidents.

Police urge residents to take precautions

The Edina Police Department is reminding residents to take steps to protect their property.

Residents are advised not to leave valuables or garage door openers in vehicles, set programmable garage doors to lock at night, and ensure that service doors connecting the house to the garage are securely locked.
