Thompson's attorney said his client "categorically" denies the allegations in a statement released Sunday.

Democratic Rep. John Thompson is resisting calls for his resignation amid reports that he allegedly abused multiple women in the early 2000s. Now, comments he made on social media in 2013 are shedding some additional light on his past treatment of women.

In various comments, Thompson referred to his now wife as a “psyco [sic] hoe,” “fat bitch,” “ugly bitch,” “stupid bitch,” “fake bitch,” “retarded motherfuckr [sic],” and “dick chaser.” In some cases, he seemingly encouraged her to kill herself and said she was “gone [sic] need a dentist” if she continued to post about him.

“Just stfu stupid bitch [you] gotta keep talking til I blow my top,” he said in another comment.

The Star Tribune identified Thompson’s wife as My’Leetha Cleveann in a Monday article. Her full name appears to be Aleatha Cleveann Austin, according to marriage records and a 2004 police report.

That report, published in full by Alpha News earlier this month, describes Thompson’s alleged abuse of Austin, who told officers that Thompson beat and choked her, breaking the phone she tried to use to dial 911 and locking her in an Eagan, Minnesota apartment.

“I’ll choke you until you can’t breathe anymore,” Thompson allegedly told her, leaving marks on his victim that were later observed by the responding officers.

According to the report, Thompson threatened to kill the victim “several times” and she believed he was “capable of doing this.”

Fox 9 then uncovered three additional police reports describing similar behavior, one from 2003 in which Thompson allegedly punched a woman in a Wisconsin parking lot, and two others from 2009 and 2010. In those cases, Thompson allegedly exposed his penis in front of children and demanded his adult victims perform oral sex on him.

In a 2019 Facebook post, Austin offered advice to women in abusive relationships and told them to “pay attention to the small red flags.”

Court records indicate that Thompson and Austin were married last year, but Thompson’s attorney, Jordan Kushner, said the two “have been together as a couple for more than twenty years.”

Kushner also said his client “categorically” denies the allegations in a statement released Sunday.

“Mr. Thompson’s wife further does not recall and does not believe she ever made such allegations,” he said.

Thompson has never been convicted of domestic assault and pleaded guilty to lesser charges in some of the cases. Several top Democrats, including the governor, urged Thompson to step down over the weekend.

Republicans are expected to file multiple ethics complaints against Thompson Monday, which could eventually result in his removal.

Alpha News first brought attention to Thompson’s domestic abuse charges in August 2020. Gov. Tim Walz and other top Democrats upheld their endorsements of Thompson in the November election.
