Years after Jan. 6, 2021, members of a Minnesota family are still looking at years in prison.
Rosemary Westbury’s three sons and her husband have all been charged with crimes related to Jan. 6. Together, the Westbury family makes up about a third of the people from Minnesota who face prosecution related to the events that day.
Westbury and her son Aaron James joined Liz Collin on her podcast.
James, a United States Navy veteran, is facing 20 years in prison and has been charged with nine felonies. He says he picked up a shield he found on the ground to keep over the body of Rosanne Boyland.
Alpha News has shared their stories before, however, Rosemarie offered an important update: “Currently, we were able to get a continuance. Originally, our trial was set for Nov. 18 and that’s been vacated. The judge has accepted the continuance. Nov. 8 is our next status hearing.”
James explained: “I was trying to protect Rosanne Boyland. For those who don’t know her story, I’d recommend going on a Rumble, just typing that in and you can really see some footage about what truly happened there. It was a travesty.
“In terms of having 20 years held over my head, I’ve lost jobs because of this. I had to let opportunities go, you know, in terms of advancement. I’m not able to purchase a home … right now, honestly, I believe that we’re waiting on this election. I don’t believe it’s a fair prosecution. I believe it’s a persecution and it’s a political persecution,” he said.
With regard to politics, Westbury said, “This election is of the utmost importance. The message is that we have to get out and vote. We have to. We have to squash the tyranny that we’ve been facing.
“I do want to speak to the Christians out there. In the last election, the Christians didn’t get out to vote. I’m hearing murmurings that they’re going to sit this out. But we cannot do that. We absolutely cannot do that,” she added.
“President Trump has said that he’s gonna take a look at these cases on a case-by-case basis and pardon and drop those charges, those who are innocent or not guilty of the charges that they’ve been accusing us of. Now, there are people who committed crimes there and there are people who I believe who orchestrated this and those people who he should go after. I would be behind him 100% going after those true criminals,” James said.
A fundraiser has been launched to help the family with their legal expenses.
