Federal agent sentenced to 7 years for production of child sexual abuse material

Timothy Ryan Gregg/Sherburne County Jail

Timothy Ryan Gregg, 53, of Eagan, Minn., has been sentenced to 84 months in federal prison for his role in transporting and producing visual depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen said this week.

At the time of his conduct, Gregg was a special agent with Homeland Security Investigations based in Minnesota and served as a task force officer with the FBI.

A press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office detailed that Gregg admitted to knowingly producing child pornography that depicted Gregg engaging in sexually explicit conduct with a minor.

Alpha News reported last year that the activity came to light after the father of the minor victim discovered multiple sexually explicit images and videos on the minor victim’s cellphone. The images and videos depicted the minor and an older individual engaged in sexually explicit activity. The individual in the images and videos was later identified as Gregg.

“My office will always pursue these cases with unwavering resolve. Protecting children is one of our highest priorities, and we will hold accountable anyone who exploits them. This case reflects a critical mission across federal and local law enforcement. The United States Attorney’s Office remains committed in our duty to protect children and will aggressively investigate and prosecute those who violate that trust,” said Rosen.

This case is the result of an investigation conducted by the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Rochester Police Department.
