Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who is reportedly on the shortlist of possible running mates for Vice President Kamala Harris, raised eyebrows with comments he made during a campaign event for “white dudes” on Monday.
“Don’t ever shy away from our progressive values. One person’s socialism is another person’s neighborliness. Just do the damn work,” Walz said during his appearance at a “White Dudes for Harris” virtual fundraiser.

Walz, speaking alongside a lineup of Hollywood elites and Democratic Party bigwigs, proceeded to call former President Donald Trump a “bastard.”
“Here’s the great news: how often in 100 days do you get to change the trajectory of the world? How often in 100 days do you get to do something that’s going to impact generations to come? And how often in the world do you make that bastard wake up afterwards and know that a black woman kicked his ass and send him on the road? And you know that’s something that guy’s going to have to live with for the rest of his life,” said the two-term Minnesota governor.

Harris, who became the presumptive Democratic nominee after President Joe Biden exited the race earlier this month, is eyeing Walz as a possible vice president, according to reports.

Walz has seen his national profile rise over the past several days as he’s made countless media appearances stumping for the vice president, lashing out at “fascist” Republicans and going viral for calling the GOP ticket “weird.”
During a campaign event for Harris in Minnesota over the weekend, Walz called Trump and his running mate, U.S. Sen. JD Vance, a “threat to Democracy” who will “put people’s lives in danger.”

As governor, Walz presided over Minnesota’s “historic” 2023 legislative session when his DFL party took full control of state government. This saw the passage of a progressive wishlist of legislation, including a 40 percent increase in government spending, providing driver’s licenses and health care to illegal immigrants, declaring Minnesota a “refuge” for children seeking sex changes, and more.
Walz’s administration also oversaw what has become known as the Feeding Our Future scandal, the largest case of pandemic fraud in the country. A recent state audit said his administration “failed to act on warning signs” to prevent the fraud.
“It’s no wonder Gov. Walz is on the shortlist,” House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, a Republican from Minnesota, told Alpha News last week. “He has tried to turn Minnesota into Kamala Harris’ home state of California. He’s an empty suit who shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the White House.”
