Rep. Ilhan Omar was arrested by U.S. Capitol Police Tuesday during a pro-abortion protest outside the U.S. Supreme Court.
Omar confirmed the arrest on Twitter.
Today I was arrested while participating in a civil disobedience action with my fellow Members of Congress outside the Supreme Court.
I will continue to do everything in my power to raise the alarm about the assault on our reproductive rights! ✊🏽pic.twitter.com/rpFYOGBDf4

She and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appeared to fake being handcuffed.
Ilhan Omar is not handcuffed.
Her staff is lying and local media is running with it. https://t.co/NCQzyHMeSL pic.twitter.com/aWpurrST9Z

“It is against the law to block traffic, so officers are going to give our standard three warnings before they start making arrests,” U.S. Capitol Police said on Twitter.
They said 34 people were arrested during the demonstration for blocking traffic, including 16 members of Congress.
The protest was organized in response to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Democrats are now calling for federal abortion legislation and expanding the Supreme Court.
