Minnesota media continues to support the political rise of Rep. Ilhan Omar, as it did Congressman Keith Ellison’s, by not reporting on stories that would impede her progress. The most recent example of this in-your-face bias is their blackout on a bombshell report by PJ Media, a carefully researched and documented story that shows school records buttress already strong allegations that Omar committed immigration fraud by marrying her biological brother.
David Steinberg’s “Official School Records Support Claims That Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) Married Her Brother” offers compelling evidence that Omar has lied repeatedly about the nature of her relationship with Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, whom she claimed was a “British citizen.”
Not a single Minnesota media outlet picked up on this new reporting, apart, of course, from Alpha News. Previous reporting by the fearless Steinberg found documentary evidence “that Omar appeared to commit perjury multiple times during her 2017 divorce proceedings.” In his most recent story, Steinberg wrote “As this implicates Rep. Omar in multiple state and federal felonies, I have contacted the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Minnesota to submit all other information uncovered during our investigation.”
Despite repeated requests, Omar did not respond to Steinberg’s emails seeking comment or further information. She did tweet on October 23, however, “We are in a disturbing era, where fake journalists on bigoted blogs make wild claims in their headlines and baselessly accuse people of disturbing crimes.Remember, this is how Trump won. Now much of the right has caught on: When they can’t win with ideas, they stoop to hate.”
Steinberg promptly responded “Tell me what I got wrong and I will issue a correction and apology immediately.” No response. He further tweeted “Readers, I mentioned in the article that I offered Ilhan an unheard-of three full days to respond to it before publication. I did the same for my article on her in August. So this is my third direct offer to her.”
Powerline’s Scott Johnson commented “One can only hope that someone in a position of responsibility at the Star Tribune will be so kind as to take note of Steinberg’s work and hold a soul-searching public reckoning that accounts for their dereliction in this matter.” He’s being more kind than realistic, himself having documented that paper’s reluctance to cover real news involving an elected official. Wrong party.
If you rely on Minnesota media, you will not be informed about what is actually happening in this state. They are accomplices, not honest brokers of information. But you already knew that.
