Former Congressman Jason Lewis will make a special announcement today at the Minnesota State Fair. The announcement is expected to happen at 10 am.
Jason Lewis will begin the race as the favorite to be the Republican candidate to face Democrat US Senator Tina Smith.
In recent months Tina Smith has become a reliable liberal and supporter of increasing taxpayer funding to abortion providers.

On the economic issues, Jason Lewis is expected to draw a contrast between him and Tina Smith on the recent Democrat support to eliminate private insurance for the government-run healthcare system and the Democrat support for the Green New Deal that would greatly limit energy use in Minnesota.
As a preview of the election, Jason Lewis recorded a 1-minute audio clip criticizing US Senator Tina Smith for being arguably the most leftwing senator in the United States.
