Leon Bond was scheduled to be released Monday after serving less than two years in a juvenile facility in relation to a 2021 car crash that killed a young couple.
He was 80 days shy of his 18th birthday when he was drag racing his sister on Easter Sunday 2021, going 114 mph before killing Tayler Garza and Dalton Ford.
“Dalton and Tayler lost their lives to complete reckless idiots driving 114 mph cutting Dalton’s car in half,” Dalton’s parents told Alpha News reporter Liz Collin this week.

Bond’s sister, Camille Dennis-Bond, was 19 at the time of the incident and was sentenced to 15 years in prison in March 2023.
Collin sat down with Dalton’s parents last year to discuss the tragedy.
