Looking for Fourth of July fireworks? We’ve got you covered

Minneapolis is bringing back July 4 fireworks after a five-year absence; some communities are adjusting their shows based on weather.

The state’s most populous city has ended its five-year Independence Day fireworks drought. At least, as long as the forecasted rainfall holds off.

Minneapolis will bring back its “Red, White and Boom” celebration on Thursday at dusk, for the first time since 2019 — weather permitting.

Last year, the city held a July 3 “Patriotic Laser Light Show,” in lieu of the traditional Fourth of July fireworks display that dozens of cities put on annually.

Across the river, the city of St. Paul will skip out, again, on Fourth of July fireworks. However, the St. Paul Saints are set to host a fireworks display following their game at CHS Field on Friday.

Folks living in the Twin Cities and across the state have no shortage of fireworks displays scheduled to attend. But be sure to check links below to see if your community has pulled the plug or rescheduled, due to the expected rain.

For instance, the city of Eden Prairie has already waved the white flag on account of the weather, and canceled its Hometown Fourth of July Celebration fireworks display.

In Excelsior, the area Chamber of Commerce moved its Lake Minnetonka Fourth of July fireworks up to July 3, at dusk. The city of Chanhassen has postponed its July 4 fireworks and rescheduled the show for Friday, July 12.

Most communities holding fireworks have updated their social media platforms asking prospective attendees to check in throughout the day on July 4 for any change in plans for parades, festivals and fireworks.
