A man in his 40s was killed in Minneapolis Tuesday night after his vehicle was hit by a driver in a stolen Hyundai, according to police.

Police said they responded to the intersection of Washington Avenue North and 22nd Avenue around 7:30 p.m. on a report of a car crash with personal injuries. They found that “one vehicle, which was determined to be a stolen Hyundai, had impacted a second vehicle in the intersection.”

The driver of the impacted vehicle was taken to HCMC with life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital. The driver of the stolen vehicle fled from the scene and had not been arrested as of Tuesday night. However, police did locate an adult female who was believed to be a passenger in the stolen vehicle. She was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Forensic scientists from the Minneapolis police forensic division responded to process the scene and collect evidence. MPD traffic investigators responded to begin their investigation to determine what occurred.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the deceased adult male’s name along with the cause and nature of his death in the coming days.

In June, five young women were killed by a speeding driver in Minneapolis. Earlier this month, a young mother was killed in Robbinsdale by a man who was fleeing police.
