Minnesota State University to hold event on how ‘whiteness’ harms people of color

One Minnesota university is helping people deal with their "whiteness," another will host a drag queen bingo game on 9/11 and a third is racked by students demanding that the school be defunded.

Minnesota State University’s Mankato campus is set to host a webinar this week called “Getting It White: Witnessing My Whiteness.”

The Sept. 10 event will take place via a Zoom meeting. During the meeting, attendees will listen as “panelists of color share their experiences with whiteness.” The aim of the event is to explain “the role of white people in anti-racist work.”

“Have you ever hoped to be perceived as a ‘good white person?’ I have. How can we really be in community with Black people and people of color when we’re too busy focusing on our ‘good’ whiteness?” the event description asks.

“Until we examine ourselves and really begin to process the ways whiteness serves us while harming the people of color around us, we cannot be effectively anti-racist,” the description concludes.

This is a promotional flier for Minnesota University’s upcoming “Getting It White” event.

The upcoming Zoom session is not the only left-leaning event set to occur at a Minnesota campus.

Carlton College in Northfield, Minnesota, is set to host Stacey Abrams on Sept. 14 to “present the keynote address at this year’s Virtual Opening Convocation.”

Abrams is best known for her refusal to concede to Brian Kemp during Georgia’s 2018 gubernatorial election. She still has yet to concede because she does not believe the election was “fair.” Instead, she maintains that “democracy failed,” per CNN.

Gustavus Adolphus College will host an event called “Drag Queen Bingo” on 9/11.

Meanwhile, students at St. Olaf, another Minnesota college, have demanded that the institution be defunded after the school’s administration failed to provide adequate media coverage for a recent protest on campus, according to emails obtained by Alpha News.

This sign was hung from a balcony in St. Olaf’s main building on Monday.

A judge also recently ruled that the University of Minnesota was justified in refusing to provide a significant venue for conservative commentator Ben Shapiro when he was invited to speak at the school by a student organization in 2018, per The College Fix.

Other institutions of higher education outside Minnesota have exhibited a leftward shift  related to the nationwide rioting and civil unrest following the death of George Floyd.

Washington and Lee University in Virginia now offers a class titled “How to Overthrow the State,” which is taught with a heavy emphasis on Marxist revolutionaries. Students will be asked to imagine themselves “at the head of a popular revolutionary movement” and write their own manifesto, according to The Fix.

Vanderbilt University in Tennessee has instructed its students that the Constitution was “designed to perpetuate white supremacy,” the outlet reports.
