Conservative commentator Michael Knowles said his event next week at the University of Minnesota will go on as planned, despite the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Knowles will appear at Northrop Auditorium Monday night at 6:30 p.m. as part of Turning Point USA’s “American Comeback Tour.” Kirk, the organization’s founder, was scheduled to join Knowles for the event.

Kirk was assassinated Sept. 10 at Utah Valley University while speaking to a crowd of thousands of students during a stop on the tour.

“He never gave up and I love knowing that one of his mottos was, ‘never surrender,’” Kirk’s wife, Erika, said in televised remarks last week. “So I want to tell you that we’ll never surrender. We never will, ever. Our campus tour this fall will continue. There will be even more tours in the years to come.”

Knowles confirmed on his show Wednesday that he will move forward with the event.

“I spoke with TPUSA yesterday and they 100% want the speaking tour to go on. And I agree with that,” he said. “The left wants to silence us and we should not give them the satisfaction. Charlie certainly would not. TPUSA will not.”

He said the event will have “very serious security” and encouraged attendees to arrive early in order to get in.
