The mayor of Minneapolis is demanding the Trump campaign pay more than $500,000 to the Target Center for security charges. However, when President Obama had an event at the Target Center in 2009, the security cost was around $20,000. Furthermore, Trump’s rally last October in Rochester only cost $76,138.
Put plainly, the city’s Democrat mayor is extorting a Republican president 26 times more than what a Democrat president was charged. This is thinly veiled political blackmail; it’s a tactic often used to stop speakers on university campuses.
Democrats are doing whatever it takes to stop President Trump from gaining a foothold in Minnesota, who lost by just over 44,000 votes in 2016 – not even the population of one suburb in the Twin Cities.
Additionally, President trump has stated that the “U.S. Secret Service is solely responsible for security and that withholding the use of the arena would be viewed as a breach of contract and result in court action.”
Whether or not a person supports Donald Trump, blocking the highest office of our nation from the first amendment is shocking.
“This is an outrageous abuse of power by a liberal mayor trying to deny the rights of his own city’s residents just because he hates the President,” said Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale. “People want to hear from their President, and no mayor looking to beef up his resume for a run for higher office should stand in the way.”
This quagmire arises in the midst of a quarrel between Trump and Omar, a Minnesota Congresswoman in “The Squad.” Omar recently tweeted, “Our beautiful state welcomes everyone with open arms. But to be clear: we will continue to reject you and your campaign of lies and bigotry.”
Open arms for everyone, except those who disagree with her political beliefs.
Minneapolis police officers are responding to a new policy by the department banning off-duty staff from wearing their uniforms to political events. So instead of the thin blue line appearing behind Trump on Thursday, there will be “a sea red T-shirts,” according to Bob Kroll, president of the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis.
