“It is believed that around 2:30 this morning, the Nissan was travelling at a high rate of speed and hit an area of ice and lost control, sending the vehicle airborne,” the department said.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, according to police. The Minneapolis Police Traffic Unit is now investigating.
