Investigators from the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) are seeking help from the public in identifying two individuals in connection to the fire that burned down the pavilion at Bde Mka Ska/Lake Calhoun on Thursday last week.
The pavilion located at 3000 East Calhoun Parkway housed bar-b-que eatery Lola on the Lake, which had recently opened for the season. The building was burned beyond repair and was deemed unsalvageable by responders last week. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board determined on Friday that the 90-year-old building must be torn down.
Investigators originally thought lightening may have been the cause of the blaze, but MPD said Tuesday that surveillance images have revealed two persons of interest and they are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.
Police said the images are of a male and female who were at the pavilion between 3:00 and 3:30 AM when the fire started.
A message on Lola on the Lake’s Facebook page following the fire said that they are “determined to rebuild.”
Anyone with information regarding the identity of these two individuals is asked to call the MPD Arson Investigation Tip Line at 612-673-3070. Information leading to the identification of these individuals may qualify for a reward.
The case is currently under investigation, GO #19-138141.
