Ned Ryun: In our modern clash of fundamental ideas, there is no common ground

"We must be serious and clear eyed about it all: what unity can you actually have with the anti-American Marxist Left?" writes Ned Ryun.

We need to be honest about where we are in this country today: we’re confronting an unrepentant, un-American Marxist Left turning increasingly violent while vehemently opposed to the foundational ideas of our great Republic. They have set themselves against all that is good, all that is right, but just as importantly, are not interested in dialogue or debate. Their mentality is you will submit; either of your own volition or by force. And if you don’t, they might even shoot you.

So we find ourselves at a critical crossroads. Less than a year from the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we must ask: Who will we be as a people? Who will we be as states? Who will we be as a nation?

Minnesota has long prided itself on civic participation, yet it has also seen the dangers of what happens when leaders turn away from our nation’s first principles. Whether it was the chaos of 2020 in Minneapolis, the radical proposals that have flooded the legislature, or the constant effort to undermine parental rights and traditional values, the truth is clear:  Minnesota has become a testing ground for the Left’s agenda.

But the story of America—and of Minnesota—did not begin with ideological chaos. It began with transcendent truth. The Declaration of Independence and Constitution did not invent values; they codified what the people already believed: that truth existed and is absolute, that rights come from God—not government—and government is to secure those God-given rights and take none of them away. These principles were the foundation for the free American Republic and lifted a fledgling nation to heights the world had never seen. And yet, those same principles are now under siege.

We must understand that we’re not dealing with the liberals of yesteryear. Today’s Left, which in many ways has taken over the Democrat Party, is openly Marxist. This is not just a Minnesota problem—it is a national problem. The Left doesn’t want debate. They want compliance. They want to erase our history, undermine our communities, and silence dissent.

That is why we cannot afford weak leadership and empty calls for “unity” or false assurances of peace. We must be serious and clear eyed about it all: what unity can you actually have with the anti-American Marxist Left? What values do we have in common? As the Apostle Paul asked: “What fellowship has light with darkness?”

So we must understand what time it is in this country and know that the only way to restore peace and normalcy, to safeguard liberty, to preserve the Republic, is to beat the Marxist Left into unconditional surrender politically; fully, and decisively. The path to accomplish that goal is clear: the hard, necessary work of voter registration, absentee ballot generation, and movement-building in battlegrounds like Minnesota, year-in and year-out. If Florida could be transformed from a battleground state into a dominant Republican stronghold in just a few years, why not Minnesota?

We must embrace this moment in our country’s history. Joseph Warren’s words on the eve of the Revolution ring true for us: “Our country is in danger, but not to be despaired of. Our enemies are numerous and powerful; but we have many friends, determining to be free, and heaven and earth will aid the resolution. On you depend the fortunes of America. You are to decide the important question, on which rest the happiness and liberty of millions yet unborn. Act worthy of yourselves.”

This is not a time for fear or shrinking back. It is a time for resolve. For courage. For rising to meet the moment of history before us.

That is why I want to invite you to join us in Chanhassen at our upcoming event for American Majority (details here). This gathering is not just another meeting—it is an opportunity for Minnesota patriots to come together, to prepare, to strengthen one another, and to get equipped for the days and months ahead.

The hour is late. The stakes are high. But if enough of us rise to the occasion, if we act worthy of ourselves and of the inheritance left to us, we can turn the tide in Minnesota and across America.
