This primary election is arguably the most important in my lifetime. The stakes could not be higher. Without the right leadership, Minnesota will continue down this deplorable path of waste, fraud, and abuse. This is a job for a business leader, not political insiders.
More than $9 billion in taxpayer funds has been lost to fraud under Democrat control. Crime has surged in our cities and spread into surrounding communities. Businesses are leaving, and tens of thousands of Minnesotans have moved elsewhere in search of safer neighborhoods, better schools, and a more affordable quality of life. The cost of continued failure is measured not only in dollars, but in the families who no longer call Minnesota home.
Fortunately, Republican delegates across the state spent five months listening, evaluating, vetting, and selecting from a very crowded field of candidates. They did the hard work and fulfilled their responsibility by choosing Kendall Qualls as the Republican Party’s endorsed candidate. Throughout the endorsing process, he consistently won straw polls across Minnesota, culminating in earning the party’s endorsement in May. Delegates concluded he is not only our strongest candidate, but also our best opportunity to restore Minnesota.
Qualls brings proven leadership and a fresh perspective as an Army veteran, business executive, and conservative outsider at a time when Minnesota desperately needs all three. Imagine an executive branch led by someone whose career has been built on accountability, measurable results, and principled leadership. The contrast could not be clearer: a career DFL politician with decades of supporting the Biden, Harris, Walz, and Omar agenda versus a business leader who has spent his life solving problems, creating jobs, and leading organizations. That is the contrast Republicans need in November, and it is the contrast many Minnesotans have been waiting for.
Qualls has lived the American Dream. Raised in poverty in public housing and later a trailer park, he joined the U.S. Army, worked his way through college, and built a successful career leading organizations at Fortune 100 companies. He and his wife, Sheila, have been married for four decades and raised five children together. Today, they are proud grandparents, with their children and grandchildren all calling Minnesota home. They also founded a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding opportunity and helping restore the promise of the American Dream for all Americans.
Qualls has also selected an outstanding running mate in Brian Nicholson. Brian is a lifelong Minnesotan, a husband and father of three, and a proven entrepreneur who has built and grown successful companies across multiple industries. He understands firsthand how excessive regulation, rising taxes, and increasing costs are driving businesses and families out of Minnesota. Together, Qualls and Nicholson bring decades of executive leadership and real-world management experience to the executive branch—qualities that have been absent from Minnesota government for far too long.
Republicans are the party of independent thinkers. We do not demand blind conformity. We debate, test ideas, and vigorously compete to determine who should lead. That is exactly what happened during our endorsing process. But Republicans also believe in respecting the rule of law and honoring the integrity of our institutions. Once the delegates have spoken through a fair and transparent process, the responsible course is to unite behind the endorsed candidate. Continued division may feel principled in the moment, but it ultimately benefits only our political opponents. Minnesota cannot afford for its strongest advocates to remain divided.
Throughout American history, when our nation has needed renewal, Republicans have risen to the challenge—from Abraham Lincoln preserving the Union, to Ronald Reagan restoring American confidence and strength, to Donald Trump advancing policies centered on border security, economic growth, and government accountability. America first is working, and we need a leader who will put Minnesota first.
Healthy debate strengthens a party. Unity after the decision has been made is what positions that party to succeed.
Kendall Qualls earned the Republican endorsement for a reason. His ticket uniquely combines executive leadership, a record of measurable achievement, and a compelling personal story that resonates beyond the Republican base and appeals to independent voters. He offers a vision centered on restoring public safety, government accountability, educational excellence, and economic opportunity. Most importantly, he represents the opportunity for genuine change after a decade of moral and economic decline.
