A 61-year-old woman was carjacked and kidnapped at gunpoint in Arden Hills around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to police.

The woman was confronted by an armed man in an underground parking ramp on the 3900 block of Northwoods Drive. The suspect forced the woman back into her vehicle and made her drive at gunpoint to the intersection of East Franklin Avenue and 27th Avenue South in Minneapolis, the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspect then ordered the woman to make a withdrawal from a nearby ATM before demanding she drive to Matthews Park, where the suspect fled from the scene and the victim called 911.

Police said the woman was not physically injured during the incident. The victim described the suspect as a black male in his 40s with a stocky build who was wearing a dark baseball hat, a black surgical mask, a dark jacket, and cloth gloves.

The case was transferred to the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office for investigation. They said investigators have processed the vehicle for physical evidence and are retracing the route for surveillance video.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Ramsey County investigators at 651-266-9558.

That same day, three juvenile females shoplifted from a Target in Brooklyn Park, left the scene in a stolen vehicle, assaulted an uninvolved resident, fled from police, and then crashed into another vehicle. Witnesses said a total of five juvenile females fled from the vehicle after it crashed.

Police used a K-9 to track down the suspects and took them into custody. Two of the suspects were immediately released to their parents and three others were transported to the Hennepin County Supervision Center.
