A republican challenger has been endorsed in Senate District 4 in Minnesota. James Leiman is the Ada City Administrator and is running in DFL Senator Kent Eken’s district. Senate district four encompasses portions of Norman, Clay, and Becker Counties.
Leiman was in the army as an intelligence analyst and has an extensive background in intelligence work. Leiman has ambitious plans if elected, which include imposing term limits and putting a five year freeze on spending. Leiman explains that this freeze will, “force legislators, committees, and department heads on the executive branch side to sit down and prioritize things.”
Another ambitious plan of Leiman’s is to propose one bill a week to focus on streamlining the government. Leiman says his policies are not partisan in nature, but are what he believes are the most “effective and efficient means” of accomplishing his goals. Incumbent Kent Eken has held elected office since 2002.
