BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Pam Myhra, former state representative from Burnsville, announced Tuesday that she is running for state auditor.
Myhra is the first Republican in the race to replace State Auditor Rebecca Otto. Otto, a Democrat, is giving up her seat to run for governor. Three other Democrats have announced campaigns to fill Otto’s seat.
“I am pleased to run for State Auditor to provide crucial government accountability and transparency, which will improve government operations and services for Minnesotans,” Myhra said in a press release. “I am committed to provide independent and objective analysis and information to serve the people of Minnesota and address their concerns.”
Myhra is a certified public accountant, and was former audit manager at KPMG, an international public accounting firm. Myhra also served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2011 to 2014, and is currently the state president of the Minnesota Federation of Republican Women.
Myhra says her experience as a certified public accountant as well as her time in the state legislature makes her a qualified candidate whose “number one priority is you, the public.”
Myhra is up against three other Democrats: Julie Blaha, Jon Tollefson, and Jack Dickinson.
