(Daily Caller News Foundation) — Republican strategist Scott Jennings tore into Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz Tuesday for hoping President Donald Trump dies soon.
Walz on Monday appeared to cheer the idea of Trump’s death, telling supporters that while death rumors were false, someday they’ll hear that news for real. During a panel on “The Arena With Kasie Hunt,” Jennings said Walz’s behavior crossed a red line.

“When he [Trump] got on the phone and sounded very much alive, I thought it would sound kind of stupid, frankly, to ask a live person if they were dead,” Jennings said. “But I’ll tell you who is a complete piece of shit — and I’m going to tell you right now. Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota, holding up a phone in front of a rally and saying, ‘Well, we thought we were going to wake up and find out the president died. Someday it’ll happen.’”
Jennings said no elected official should ever cheer for the death of a president.
“I used to say he was the biggest buffoon in American politics, but it’s worse now. No political official, no elected official should be walking around saying ‘Why, I’m hoping we wake up one day, and the president of the United States has died.’ Crazy,” Jennings said.
Walz referenced baseless social media rumors claiming Trump died, which spread Friday under trending hashtags like #TrumpIsDead and #WhereIsTrump. The speculation fizzled after Trump appeared at a Sterling, Va., golf course with his granddaughter, Kai.
As the conspiracy theory swirled online, Trump sat for an hour-long exclusive interview with the Daily Caller, where he outlined his plan to end the Russia-Ukraine war and said he would consider reopening insane asylums to address mental illness.
