U.S. Senate candidate Jason Lewis raised the question on why Senator Tina Smith has remained painfully silent after the Minneapolis City Council announced plans to begin disbanding the Minneapolis Police Department.
Lewis began by noting “as the husband and son in law of former St. Paul police officers, I was appalled and outraged yesterday when the Minneapolis City Council announced their intention to defund the Minneapolis Police Department.”
“It is unconscionable that this is even a consideration.”
Many are wary of Democrats’ inflammatory efforts at purportedly triggering their radical socialist base for political expediency is quickly becoming very dangerous. “Right now,” says Lewis, “across the country policemen and women are being shot, run over, and targeted. The idea of abolishing the police after 500 businesses were just damaged or destroyed in the Twin Cities is complete lunacy.”
Lewis believes that “Senator Tina Smith’s silence on this issue can only mean that she stands with Ilhan Omar and the City Council in wanting to abolish the police.” Smith “was nowhere to be found” when riots were erupting all over her home state and burning cities were left unchecked. “And she’s nowhere to be found now that left-wing anarchists want to de-fund the police force,” notes Lewis.
He concludes in awe, stating “I never fathomed we’d see sitting members of Congress content with abolishing the police, but here we are. Tina Smith has a duty to stand up against this radical proposal. The safety of our communities depends on it.”
