Susan Esbe: It’s not ok to hate white men

A student at the University of Minnesota, Esbe says straight white men are discouraged from speaking in class.

“Why is it ok to assume the worst of [white men]?” asks Susan Esbe in her latest video column.

A student at the University of Minnesota, Esbe says straight white men are discouraged from speaking in class.

“A lot of the white males, I’ve noticed, feel very uncomfortable in class speaking out about what they believe because they’re afraid,” she reports. “If a white male speaks out in class, they’re just automatically going to be dismissed.”

“Prejudgment is bad when it comes to any group,” she concludes. “My warning to everyone … is to move away from that judgment.” However, she acknowledges that this so-called “color-blind” approach is socially forbidden by her peers at the U.
