“Two teenage boys, ages 16 and 17, were arrested in connection to the Sunday, Nov. 30 armed robbery in a parking lot of an apartment building at 7333 Gallagher Drive.

Around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, Edina Police Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of 7171 France Ave. on the report of an armed robbery with shots fired. The 9-1-1 caller said the robbery occurred during a ‘Facebook Marketplace deal gone wrong.’

Responding officers located an 18-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to his left arm. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by Edina Paramedic/Firefighters.

Despite an uncooperative victim and witnesses, Edina officers and investigators worked through the night to determine the armed robbery occurred in the parking lot of an apartment building at 7333 Gallagher Drive. They reviewed surveillance video and identified two suspects involved in the shooting. Officers secured the scene and located footprints, tire tracks and a discharged .40-caliber cartridge casing. The Hennepin County Crime Lab processed the scene.

Investigators located the 16-year-old suspect driving in his vehicle in Edina and took him into custody after a traffic stop. A search warrant was obtained for the second suspect, found in the 4400 block of Parklawn Court. The search warrant was executed by the Edina SWAT Team with the assistance of Eden Prairie and St. Louis Park SWAT Teams. The 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody without incident. During the search, a .40-caliber ghost gun was collected as evidence.

Both suspects are currently being held at the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center awaiting charges.

Thanks to Edina Investigators and help from mutual aid partners, the two suspects were taken into custody within 12 hours of the initial call to the Edina Police Department. This is an ongoing investigation; no further information will be provided.”

On Sunday evening, police and sheriff’s deputies were observed towing a car out of the parking lot at 7171 France Avenue. Information was not immediately available confirming whether the injured party was found inside the vehicle.
