HD14A will continue controlled by Republicans as Rep. Tama Theis won reelection defeating Aric Putnam by a margin of 55 percent to 45 percent.
Theis is finishing up her first term in the House, where she serves as Vice-Chair of the Aging Long-Term Care Policy Committee. She is a small business owner and a lifelong resident of central Minnesota.
Putnam is a professor of communication at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University. He volunteers at Promise Neighborhood in St. Cloud, and serves on the board of two local non-profits.
The DFL made this race a target in 2016, and money has been pouring in from both sides as a result. Putnam’s camp had a spending advantage of about $329,000 to Theis’ $214,000.
